1000D with Continental 4 cyl. Diesel and
Roosa Master injection pump.
Double seals leaking allowing fuel into
Crankcase.
After I pull the ip can I then pull the adapter
Block install those hard to get correct seals
Then reinstall ip as a complete assembly?
Thanks
Tom

You will need to time the engine to the pump
depending on rated engine rpm, at 2000 it would be
36 degrees Btdc, I would suggest getting a
continental engine book, they are around $20 or so
for the jd382 you can find them on eBay or montes
equipment will have them and the parts as we"ll
possibly, the book shows the whole procedure

Thanks.
Don't understand the double post. Only clicked submit once, but?

Anyway yes I do have the Case manuals and an engine manual here somewhere.
I overhauled this engine 30 yrs. ago,but this problem popped up,a few yrs. ago.

I r&r the pump replacing the seals but I'm sure I rolled one going back in.
Therefor I was wondering if I could take the adapter off this time and carry the whole thing to my local IP shop and have them install them as I don't have the tool to keep that from happening again.
I just can't remember if that was doable.

Guess I will do some reading,Oh I understand about/how to set the timing!
Thanks,
Tom

The pump shaft seals are not in the block adapter, but run inside the pump pilot tube. Make sure they are lubed well and use your finger to get it started in the tube. If the shaft slides in easily seals are OK, if shaft pushes in place hard the first seal is rolled..

That is kind of what I wanted to know.
I know the seals are in the pump but can't remember how it goes into the adapter.
That's why I was wondering if I installed the adapter to the pump with the driveshaft, then back into the block.
But I might be overthinking this.

I looked at a parts diagram but couldn't really tell.

Also your hint about how to tube slides helps.
Seems like I did have trouble getting the pump to slide back in,
The last time.

I talked with George a while back about this ,but can't remember what he told me now,lol

Thanks,
TGP

(quoted from post at 21:20:42 09/24/15)

1000 D case times at 27 deg , I have several of them.

Thanks George.
Was hoping you would respond.
It was last year or so we talked about this, and I'm just getting back to it.
The machine has sat long enough.
Now I know to leave the adapter alone.

I guess I will go ahead and find some seals and replace.

Thanks for the Timing info.
I'm sure that's were I set it the last time and runs Great.
