You fellas gave me info.about my Case W 14 with no brakes. I just use this machine on my own property and on level ground...........I would like to have some brakes and was wondering if I could have either FRONT or REAR Brakes--whick one would be the easiest for me to fix OR can't that be done.
Thank you

I can't remember which model you had exactly, but I'm thinking it was one of the earlier ones with the brakes at the end of the axels, rather than the wet brakes that are inside the axel housing.

That being the case, either end is going to be about the same to do as far as making a repair. In fact I just looked at a parts list for the eelier ones and they have disc brakes as opposed to drum brakes, which should make things even easier.

In any case the air over hydraulic portion of the system would have to be operational, and more than likely the master cylinder would have to be repaired/resealed to make either end work. If you only wanted to do one end, you'd simply plug off the hydraulic line going to that end. I don't know how much the needed parts are going to be, but I would suggest going ahead and doing both ends just to be safe. That said, if you only do one end, do the rear. If you do the front it would make stopping with a loaded bucket sort of like hitting nothing but the front brake on a bike, and would tend to make the machine nose toward the front. Definitely not something you'd really want to happen.

Take a look at the link below and you can check out the parts you'll more than likely need before you ever even start working on the machine. If you need any more help, post back and I'll be glad to do what I can.
