My 86 year old neighbor has an 1150 Case crawler loader. He called me this evening - says he's got a 24 volt alternator to put on it, but he's having trouble getting a hex shaped bar (part of the gen mount) removed from the engine. The end of the bar is threaded and has a nut holding it to a lug cast into the block. Does anyone remember removing this bar that he's talking about? He's wondering if the lug (part of the block) is internally threaded, and if the bar is supposed to screw out of the lug. Being hex shaped, I'd think it was designed to put a wrench on. Crawler is in his barn in the dry - I've walked around it a couple of times, but haven't seen it run. I think I'll have the job of fabricating an alternator bracket for it when the time comes. I hope I'm just half the man he is if I make 86 years old. Thanks for any response.
