TD9 Steering Clutch Stuck (sigh)

Hi! My 1961 TD9 LH Steering Clutch is Stuck :( I adjusted the lever and think it's engaging properly. It's gotten stuck before; I unstuck by going back and forth working the brake and clutch. Not this time. I sprayed penetrant on the clutch through the rear opening. I used tie-downs on Both clutch levers and drove around, put a load on. But I can't break it loose. I am not an expert and not about to pull the clutch (sorry!). I think the next thing to try is pour some liquid in. So, this leads me to my 3 specific questions.

1. What else should I try?

2. What liquid to use? I think Diesel is the "standard", but I've read a lot of different things like: kerosene, (parts) solvent, penetrant (wd40/acetone & ATF), water & soap, mineral spirits, evapo-rust.

3. How much liquid to add? I know to get it up over the clutch drum, but cannot see down there. I'd be pouring blind. I am guessing 1-3 gallons.

Thanks for reading my post! I will post my results here when something happens.

I have had good luck using a product called "KROIL" made by KANO Labratories-- 615 833 4104. web is -- www.KANOLABS.COM, email <KANOLABS2aol.com>. This product penetrates through the rust and has always worked for me.

I have had the same thing happen on TD 6 I dove around with the clutch lever pulled and rode the brake to get it hot and it broke loose.

Before you try liquid try riding the brake as Larry says. Heat might work, any liquid will have a cooling effect. If that does not work, soak it.

Success! Broke it free today! I sprayed the clutch with a 50/50 mix of acetone & ATF, drove it around with both clutches pulled in and rode the brake. It was not breaking loose. I drove it into a tree, the track just spun and spun, drove it around more riding the brake. No love. Ready to give up, I tried one more time, spayed a bunch more then put it in high gear and rode the brake. Finally it broke loose. Yay!!
