Parts availability

Hello,
I was wondering what the parts availability is on a Case 310 Dozer/Loader and also on a IH T340? I'm looking for a small loader/Hilift to do small work around the house, but before I purchase anything, I would like to know how hard it is to find parts for certain models. Any help would be much appreciated. Also what is the model that is easiest to find that is small, but old? Thanks.

I had two IH TD 340s , great little dozer / loader , just about impossible to find rails , track chain , I searched high and low , can not find New or Used . Sold my 340s , not my problem now . 310 Case is a nice tractor , this would be the one I prefer .

Scott don't know about the Case but anything in a crawler made by IH prior to about 1965 (don't know about after that) has little or no parts support except for the engines if that particular engine was also used in a farm tractor. Some like the TD5 used an IH British diesel I've been told. While you can find parts it's not easy or may mean a wait for it to be shipped. About the only parts I could find for a TD5 that were easy to find were steering clutches and brakes. I got rid of the TD5.

I would be inclined more toward looking for a JD 1010C, 350 , 350B or 350C. They were all available with bucket or blade. Although parts can be expensive, they are available from JD or salvage yards, etc.

The case 310 dozer/crawlers doesn't have steering clutches. They use steering brake bands. that's a big plus as steering clutches will cost several dollars plus you have to remove them. The steering bands on the 310 is easily removed. John deere makes some small crawlers. 440 is a decent machine but the reverser parts are very hard to find. the 1010/2010 are nice but you have to make sure you don't get any antifreeze in your oil due to bad seals at the bottom of cylinder sleeve. Sleeve assembly for those is hard to find. 420 / 430 jd is a small crawler. just have to operate as it should be operated as the final drive housings are a little weak. all parts for any small dozer /crawler will be some what hard to find except motor parts. Do your home work. Old saying haste makes waste. Don't be afraid to ask the seller a question regardless how stupid you may think it is. There is some honest people out there. Just have to find them. Good luck in whatever you buy. Norm in missouri
