Case Dozer temp question

I have an 1150 case dozer. 1983 model. I replaced the non-working water temperature gauge with a generic one. After a few hours of use the gauge will show a temp of around 220 degrees at which point I stop and let it cool back to about 190 or so and continue on. My question is. What is the normal operating range for this dozer?

I don't have the specs for that machine but I would sooner see it at around 190 than over,make sure the radiator is clean both inside and out,often back flushing the rad can get rid of years of sludge,you could use a rad cleaner,take off the bottom hose and jam in a hose pipe with a rag and reverse the water flow through the rad till it comes clear.someone may have the exact spec.
