D4h locked up

Im still looking at a d4 powershift dozer, they came way down on the price. This machine has set for a few years got it started easy enough, but something is locked up in the drive train. I have not taken the shaft out to see if its the torque or trans. This thing will not even shake the shaft. I did check the filter and fluid. What are the odds its the torque vs trans?

If it is a H model the safety lever has to be up to release the brakes. Could be something in the valving or linkage if the safety lever has a full range of motion.

Thanks msm, It does have a safety lock that seems to be working. This thing moved to where its setting I cant see much that can be wrong. Like you said maybe a stuck valve or something. Im going to buy it,and get a book go from there. There are thing I have learned about my old tractors from these forums that are not in books. The Ladies brothers dont want her to sell it so Im thinking there could be something they have messed with. Thanks again

Transmission charge pump has lost it,s prime.. Pull the floor boards and watch the drive line. Put a gauge on the transmission pressure port.

Hey jm, I have watched the driveline, and nothing not even a jerk. Dont have a book on this machine yet. I know just enough to be dangerous. I would really like to fix it where it sets. Getting a dead dozer home will not be easy or cheap. Dont have the deal closed yet. Doing that Monday I guess. Jumping into this with both feet so I need all the help I can get.. Thanks and have a gooden

you would do best to get a good Cat mechanic to check it out before you buy it---could end up as a nonworking money pit

That is sound advice depend, it has a winch and runs good, tracks are so so.. what do you think its worth?
