Difficulty removing HD3 starter?

Forum members,
Who has removed the starter on an HD3 Allis? The driver is showing signs of wear and should be replaced. Any and all thoughts are welcome!

In addition to the starter being tricky to get at when I removed one on an H3 it was quite seized in place. Penetrating oil (even spraying in the hole where the fastening bolt comes out was helpful) and a good pry bar along with patience eventually got it out.

I am new at this so I hope this works. I have an old ac hd3 loader and have had problems with the starter. the problem is that the nose cone is fragile, so be sure not to brake when tying to get the starter out. the starter is held in only by a tapered bolt on the right side. what usually happens is the engine will kick back when trying to start. this causes the starter to get slightly cocked in the housing. if the starter still works a little. loosen the bolt slightly ,then tap the starter to try move the engine just a little. this will free up the bendix and disengage the teeth from the flywheel. if that does not work, the only left to pry the starter down in the back and pull on it. this is how the nose cone breaks. wish to luck
