Well, I went to see the old gentleman who owns this unit (25 yrs). Asked him for the
whole story. He had the engine rebuilt 5 yrs or so ago. He said he was using it all the
time, as of late he had to hold the shuttle clutch handle on the leftside (Hi/Lo Power
Director on tractors on rightside) in the forward position for it to go forward.
Noticed that it does not lock or even close to the center lock position, pull back it
does stay in reverse, forward it has nothing. Also the right steering lever has no
resistance as if burn out steering clutch or disconnected the left seems alright. He
said he used the brakes also to turn it. Looks pretty rough life. Tracks are too tight
no slack what so ever, right track idler roller (?) loose, worn and wobbly, tracks look
very thin and worn out maybe 1/4 inch left, it is a loader/dozer. No grill but has the
heavy rock guard. Feel bad for the old man, he had triple bypass surgery 13 months ago
and wants to get rid of stuff. I informed him it will probably take alot to repair all
that is wrong and is not worth the $4,000 he is dreaming for but if he really wants to
get rid of it it needs to be cheaper real cheaper <1,000. Thanks for all your info. PS
the tracks are only visible the bottom track rollers is under sand/mud that came from
all the rains off the hills next to his home. The backhoe is not his but it does come with the ripper attachment. Also he has a FORD EDSEL for sale.
