I have a 2008 John Deere 310 SJ TC backhoe. Looks like the 2 batteries are giving up! Is it possible to put new acid in them for a little more life ? Never tried it but I don't want to be buying new batteries just now. Any help out there?? Jim in N.M.

wont do a bit of good. waste of time. the plates are sulfated. batteries that last the longest are the ones that have never been run dead and sit.

What we don't want to do is what we need to do is what I learned long ago. Yes replace the batteries.

Go to Harbor Freight. Buy you a trickle battery charger. they have them for under 10 bucks. Keeps trickle charge on your batteries. There no good for a dead battery but if you battery is good it will keep them charged and will last longer. I use them especially in the winter months when I am not using my equipment. Really helps. Replacing the acid probably wouldn't hurt but not sure it will actually help you. Norm

You could try doing the Epsom salt/water mix treatment. It can often be very successful and give you several more years of life. You can google lots of info on this. I know personally it works wonders.

Jim they do sell a Desulfinator at HF. They are cheep and usually will get you a little more timeout of them. So I am told by the 2 guys that I know who have them

Thanks for the info. BUT I just figured 8 yrs. was about good enough. SO I went and bought new batteries and should be good tell the end of my life LOL thanks Jim in N.M.
