Have been reading in recent posts about the relief valve in lubrication systems. Just wondering if my '65 HD3 Allis is being relieved when it seems the oil pressure gauge seems buried all the way to the right when running except when fully heated and at an idle. Is that the way diesels are meant to run?
Second observation relates to the air filter on the HD3. About a month ago I was running the crawler and noticed I could not open it up and noticed black smoke coming from the exhaust and it seemed powerless. Finally deducted the the air filter was not clean. Replaced the over due filter and now it runs like it should. Novice mechanical aptitude finally showed up!!
