Hi all , bought a skidder with a 3-53 that has been sitting for quite some time . Tried to roll it over today and it's stuck , so i took the valve cover off and all the valves are loose , sprayed realese oil into the cylinders , checked the blower and it looks fine . I'M wondering if water got down the exhaust and into the pistons ? she is locked solid --any ideas

I take it your 3-53 has air box covers and you removed them? That's where you find out good info., evidence of water should be noticed there good place to apply the penetrating
oil. 50% auto trans. fluid and 50% acetone mix is awesome. There should be a hole in the bottom of the bell housing right under the ring gear. Put a suitable pry bar in the and try
it both ways, if you get any movement apply more penetrant in the cylinders. If it has had water for a long time you'll likely have to disassemble it.

Eric , I didn't have to follow your great ideas and got lucky --I guess

This morning I went back at it after letting the penetrating oil work in the cylinders all night .

I put a 2' pipe wrench on the crankshaft with a 4' pipe and very gently pulled , she broke free and spun around without any type of resistance . So now it's time to change all the fluids before I start her . The hour meter works and say 1400 , so she still has good life left .
