Ed from Crawler Heaven passing

Just a note for those of you who knew him, Ed Christopherson from Crawler Heaven passed away late last week from complications due to the cancer he had been fighting for almost 6 years. I was out to visit him 3 weeks ago after I learned that they were sending him home with no further treatment options.
We lost a lot of knowledge on the old crawlers last week.

lavoy,

Real sorry to hear that. I talked to karen less than 2 weeks ago,
she said he was quite weak. Had planned to go up to see him next week.
Have been to both of his places several times. I bought tracks &
rollers from him ,both large and small (977L & 450 case).
I spray welded JD final drive axles for him and either take them
back or ship to his customers.
Really miss the info that was on his web site , no other place to
get it.
Was it you that bought the presses?

I never had the opportunity to know the man, but it sounds like he was another of the 'good ones'.

It sucks getting older as it seems we are losing more and more knowledge every day with the passing of guys like this. I know Bill Helms at Iron Peddlers passed some years back, and there was a lot of knowledge that left with him.

My Dad is another one that will be severely missed when he passes. He's a walking encyclopedia on the old A/C machines, as well as the BE and Northwest cranes. Thankfully he's only 67, and in good health, so I hope to have quite a few more years of being able to pick his brain when needed.

This is the very reason I do my best to listen and learn as much as I can when I get the chance to talk to these kinds of guys. The knowledge gained from listening has served me well many times over the years.

What state was he from I'm terrible with names n faces but I think I know him not sure either way it's terrible to loose to cancer

Not that it was unexpected, just not this soon, he thought he had 3 or 4 months, not 3 or 4 weeks.
No, friends of mine from Neb. bought the presses, they were at his place same time I was.

I remember old Ed. He did a set of tracks for a 420 crawler I had about 10 years ago. Pretty down to earth man and a decent guy. He will be missed.
RIP

I did not know the man apart from seeing his posts on here,my deepest sympathy to his family, friends and all those who knew him.May He Rest In Peace.
