D69U Starting Conversion

I was curious what are the best options are for converting a D6 9U from a pony to an electric start. The bell housing has a boss for the starter, but it is not drilled. Thanks

Give the guys at Iron Peddlers a call. I'm not sure who they have that knows all of this since Bill Helms passed away, but they have helped us do a couple of conversions in the past when he was there.

That said, I remember the housing has to be drilled and tapped if it's not already, and the starter is a special, reverse acting one (at least on all of the ones we've done), but beyond that it's been too long since I did one to remember everything.

I chose to pull the pony and use a gear-driven starter. I have a battery where the Pony once was. Solved the cranking problem. Work initially well if I cranked and used ether. Since the D69U has no glow plugs, I instead used a Webasto coolant heater.
