JCB sitemaster questions

My father purchased a 1990 JCB sitemaster backhoe. Any ideas where I can find an operator's manual? Anybody happen to know where the cap is to check the hydraulic fluid level? It has a small leak. Anybody you know the specs of the hydraulic fluid I should be looking for?

The early site masters the hydraulic reservoir was part of the frame, take the cover from the left side of the engine, you should see the filler and site gauge it is part of the radiator housing, the fluid we use at my place for JCB's is Shell Tellus S M 32,if you have a JCB dealer near you you may find it's cheaper to buy the fluid from them,if you want to check the oil specs for their oil go to the link below from where you can download a PDF of the specs, look on ebay for a manual.

Thank you very much for the information, have another question. Need to replace either the hydraulic cylinder that operates one of the stabilizers, or find a seal kit. Can't seem to locate the model number on the cylinder itself, but the serial number for the tractor is smbt4119/352560/7. At least that's the information I was given. Any idea where I can find a seal kit, or replacement cylinder?

There is no way anyone would change a cylinder just because the seal leaks a little,is the rod ok?,seals are wearing parts and have to be changed from time to time,a seal kit will be less than 100 a cylinder would probably cost a couple of K,seems to be plenty JCB outlets in MN,give them the serial number of the machine and they will sort the seal kit for it,is your backhoe a side shift or center mounted,i.e does the hoe slide across from side to side of is it fixed in the center, found a picture of the hydraulic site gauge and filler.

I'm not sure how big the leak is, he would like to have the option of getting it fixed. Recently rebuilt a couple of cylinders on an old John Deere 4010 with a loader. Wasn't that much work. He did Find where to fill the hydraulic fluid, and the sight gauge. Thank you very much for that. Mind if I ask where you came across the image you posted?

are the parts for the JCB sitemaster interchangeable with parts for a 1400b? What about the 214s?

A lot of the parts are shared throughout the range, one would need to compare part numbers to be sure,I do not have a parts book.
