JD450C won't stay running

We have a diesel 450C Deere that all of a sudden won't stay running. It's full of good clean fuel, we blew out all the lines which didn't help. Replaced the filter which at first we thought took care of it but it didn't. Once the filter filled up it ran for about 3 minutes then died again. So, we put a new lift pump on which didn't help. We have cracked the injector lines and didn't get any air form any one of the 4. This did cause it to run very rough. Took return line off at the injector pump, there is very, very little to no return fuel. It starts and run for maybe 2 to 3 seconds and dies but, it'll restart just as soon as it dies and run another 2 to 3 seconds and die. Now for the even odder thing. If the filter is took off or if the injector supply line is took off and put back on it'll start and run for 10 to 15 seconds. When it dies it's like the fuel is shut off not like it's running out of fuel. We are at a loss, can anyone help?
 
If pump is a Stanadyne/RoosaMaster loosten the two screw timing cover on the side, if it then runs OK while fuel leaks out the pump needs serviced. Retainer ring bits are plugging the return side causing shutdown. Best get it repaired before the retainer pins shear off, causing much more damage.
 
On the top cover of the pump you will see the return line attached to an elbow,remove the line and the elbow,inside the elbow is a valve,see that it is not blocked,blow back through it,[if it was blocked with mouse like turds the governor damper ring is breaking up and need replacing]when clear put it back on and see if it keeps running,make arrangements to have it serviced.

We have found that the injector pump return was plugged with small chunks of rubber. It will run okay with the timing plate loss. So, headed for a rebuild or getting a rebuilt one. Thanks for your replies which help us out a lot.
