I have a 1948 D2 (5U2085) that has a broken 4B-5298 Pinion engagement slide. (Part number cast onto the end is 4B5261, but that rolls up to the assembly which is 4B-5298) It's taken a couple years but I finally got it into the workshop and split to remove the broken part. I have already repaired the starter clutch pinion assembly which is what led to this bar breaking. Previous owner used the slide to hold the pinion engaged because the dogs were not latching the pinion when using the pony to start the diesel. Now I need to rpelace the 4B-5298 slide assembly, this one is broken at the end and got bent pretty good when things went bad. I'm looking for a used part in good shape if anyone has one. Message me.
