Case 580 CK construction king

JOB

The water pump on my 580 CK is shot and needs to be replaced. I have access to most of the pump but can not get to the lower radiator hose. Question
is do I need to take down the counter weight to get to the hose???? I can see no other way to get to the hose. Am I not seeing something? Or is it
possible to do this job without removing the radiator? Any ideas or help would be appreciated. Thanks

The water pump and water pump housing are two separate pieces and as far as I can recall the pump has no hoses attached to it,take off the fan and pulley, undo the three nuts holding the pump to the housing and remove the pump, the pump is A146584R and the gasket A38083 gasket.

That was what I thought you could do also. The fan is all full close to the radiator and it did not look like the fan blades could be snaked out of
the shroud and the opening that is available. I will use a longer 1/2" wrench and see if I can break those fan bolts loose. Maybe I will have to take
the lines loose that come from the torque converter area to the bottom of the radiator and that might help. Thanks

I got the bolts out of the fan and the fan is loose, but you can not get it out of where it is. There is not enough room between the pump and radiator
to tilt the fan blades to get the fan past the end of the pump shaft. I had a heck of a time getting my fingers and hand between the blade and
radiator to get the bolts out. I need to hopefully get one bolt back in so I can move the machine to a level area and remove the counter weight. I
feel that is the only way to change the water pump. Remove the radiator. And the lower radiator hose is not accessible from the side or top and bottom
on this Diesel with the counter weight in place.

been a few years but I have changed many radiators and water pumps on them never had to pull the counter weight, I did pull the nose cone tin work

Case Nutty, You are correct the counter weight does not have to come off, I did take it off and found the two bolts holding it on was rusted through half their diameter.
I have the nose sheet metal work out of the way and I can now see the lower hose. It is behind the valve cover vent line. Why that vent line is routed down to right behind the bottom of the radiator I have no idea. The dealer said the hose is only 2,1/2 inches long. And that is what it looks like but there is not enough room to slide the hose either direction to get it off either the radiator or the pump housing. And you can not slide the radiator forward either. Maybe the hose is flexible enough to just pull upward after the clamps are loose???????? Maybe use some dish soap when you re-install???? Anything coming back to you?????

Hmmm, I was thinking you can take both clamps off then slide it one way or the other enough to remove it, as for lube I use PB Blaster, it work Very well for lubing rubber hoses like that to make them easy to install remove, I also may have loosened the bottom bolts that hold the Radiator on and slide it forward to R&R the hose

Case Nutty, The hose clamp on the radiator is turned in such a position that the clamp can not be released, On the engine side, that clamp nut can be accessed but there is no room to slide the hose either direction. The radiator can not be slid forward either because it is fairly tight against the heave piece that the hydraulic pump bolts on to.
This tractor has so much dirt grease and grime on it I can't see much. I could not find the lower hose until I scraped away a lot of dirt and crud, but the hose was sort of hidden behind the engine vent line. The bottom bolts you mention are they on the very bottom of the radiator or towards the bottom on the sides???? There is not much access on the bottom to get at the radiator.

yes on the bottom, I have always been able to get to them from the front, I pull it with the mounting plate attached, it will come out, if you have access to a pressure washer this will help you a Lot here, a air hose may help a bit as well

Case Nutty, I took off the transmission filter container and found the two nuts on the bottom. I got them off from underneath. The radiator is loose now just connected by loose hoses, going to try and pull it straight up. Thanks.
