Steering problem Fiatallis fl7b fl5??

Hi Again I'm new to the site Have another problem which I think I know what it is, but I figure I post anyway. maybe I'm wrong.
The steering been great for a couple of days but notice the right side was getting hard to push on the right steering pedal and then after another hour maybe it stop disengaging the clutch first I was thinking it had to do with oil was warm a thinner and leaking around something and not building enough pressure to disengage the clutch.

Look at the part book I think oil pressure is on the clutch the to engage while driving and cut off and the brake is push to turn the machine. (so no oil flow no pressure on the clutch plates?) So I think it dirt? Since I had a bad input line to the oil pump on the machine a week or two ago , dirt or something jaming the control valve to shut off oil to the clutch piston? Question doesn't the oil go thru the filter first and then to the valves? I'm new to these machines or any of these big machines but it would be the way I would of made them if I design the machine. so let me know If i'm in the ball park.

My guess is that I should be able to get to what is jamming the oil flow valve by a plug on the valve body? and no need to pull the whole valve off, if I'm luckly. clean it out and on my way??? another thing I don't think it a o-ring on the valve don't see one on the parts list. looks like the level pushes on a valve pin with a spring on it just incase something jams it to keep it from bending.

Thanks for any replys for some insight
I post the same question on Unofficial Allis site also.

Robert, I had a like problem on a fl5 this past fall only it wouldn't steer either way

I took the top plug out of the valve on top of tranny and got the piston out cleaned it up and it works fine now

mine was doing fine we were pulling logs with it shut it down for a couple hours and when we fired it up it wouldn't steer in either direction

I think the plug u take out is a hex head plug it is in the center on top look at ur parts book u should be able tell which one it is by that if not post back and I will get my service manual to see for sure

Hi and thanks,
I been looking at the parts book more it looks like it need pressure to disengage the clutch so I'm wrong about that.
but it could be still a dirty valve. but one more thing is that I continue to use the machine just steering with just the left pedal but at one time it sounded like I had a rock stuck in the track I looked at both sides, seen nothing back up noise, went forward popping noise snapping noises looking again.. still nothing... backup the thing and thinking of putting it away it cleared up so I continue to use it with just the left pedal to steer. for a hour or two. it was a dry day with no mud. Not many of those days lately around here so I really didn't want to stop moving dirt. At one time some one put in a another right final drive case on the unit. which I can tell I'm thinking maybe something was not put together right. the right clutch piston housing??? is lose. It might of been one of something like one of sixteen bolts backing out??
It sits inside of the clutch plates... At first I was thinking it might be the chains I have hanging up on the back against the back wire screen. but I was looking and the noise didn't seem to come from there but sounded it was, the chains wasn't moving much......???? I check to see if it a valve if not I guess to check bolts on the piston housing do you get to that area from opening up the brakes panel on top? to check that clutch housing.
Live and learn.
Thanks for a reply.

You can get in this situation (based on our FA 10) if the oil level gets low. (The FA 10 gets its clutch and brake oil from the bevel gear case). The brakes will still work but the clutch doesn't open fully. There are strange noises then. Don't ask how I know!

But I'd suspect that both sides should act the same if that is the case with yours.

Hi
And thanks for the reply,
I guess it might be control valve might be jam up with something, I know the level is fine because I just drain and refilled when I fix the supply line to the pump last week.
My guess it might be jam open with just a crack to let a little oil get by??? I would almost said the noise was coming from the chain hanging on the back but I looked right at them and it wasn't...I'll get out their wednesday And pull a couple of the plugs in the valve body to see what I can find...and maybe have time if needed pull the valve body off.
Thanks for the reply
