D4C will not move

I am looking a 88 model d4c that has been setting for maybe 5 years, I cant get the straight of that. We got it started without any problems, but it doesnt even try to go into gear. Check the filter, its clean, screen is clean, full of fluid. I dont have a manual for it' Cat dealer says the drive shaft should turn when its neutral even if the torque or trans is bad and it dosnt. I stuck a screwdriver in it and it didnt turn. Also her brother has never wanted her to sell it. Is there anything he could have done to lock everything up? One last thing. We didnt have a key, had to jump it over if that means anything. Thanks and have a Great Day

If it is an 88 D4C it is probably hydrostatic. I would run from it. Look for a direct drive model. Hydrostatic or power shift transmissions can cost upwards of $20,000 to repair.

Thanks Tom, it is a power shift. Dealer says just a guess trans would be 7000 worst case. They want 8000 for it which would be a good buy if it would move, but 8 plus 7 and up to enough to get one already there. I just wondering if there was something i could look that the dealer might not tell me about. Otherwise I will run. Thanks again and have a great day Rogi
