HD3 track replacement

Forum Members,
It is close to the time when I will be replacing the tracks and sprockets on the HD3. Are there better than average hints for the novice on this job? The part I am mostly concerned about is the actual closing the gap between links and pinning the tracks. Any and all thoughts are welcome.

Have you been able to locate new parts for the tracks? Sounds like it's really hard to find pins and bushings with the specs of these tracks.

The way I do it is set the open end of track chain at 7 o clock position. Jack sprocket
off chain, hook end of chain over sprocket, carefully run in reverse until tight, let down
onto chain blocked at 7 o clock. Clear as mud?
