New Track Chain for Case 310, no relief for pads

I am installing new track chains on my little dozer.
The old chain had a recess in the middle of the chain for a rib on the underside of the track pads, the new chain does not.
I am hesitant about grinding on the new chains, and it looks like the rib helps keep the pad from bending during use.
Has anyone dealt with this before?
This is my first time working on tracks so i could use a little expertise.
Thanks!

If you are stuck with the those chains and the pads are good grind the ridge off the pads in two places so they will fit flat on top of the rails, bolt them up.all the older pads had that locating ridge and the rails were machined to accept them, modern tracks don't use that style any more.

Thanks for the advice!
I was afraid they would bend without the little rib.
I'll be doing some grinding now.

Don't worry about them bending, two small gaps to go over the rails is all you need to grind out.
Good luck
