It's me again lol Headgasket replace - hardstart, no power

Hey lads, I recently replaced the head gasket on my Case 450 w/diesel. Installed new head gasket, had starter rebuilt, new head studs torqued to spec, all new fuel line fittings, new thermostat, had all hydraulic cylinders repacked over the winter.

Now it's seems hard to start but once it fires (sucks the batter just about dead to start - been in heated garage all winter)and idles fine but when I push the throttle it kind of sputters and the motor is sluggish to respond.

I haven't had the chance to bleed all the injectors yet so I will try start it again and maybe bleed all the lines. It's maple syrup time right now so I only get to it ever now and again.

Not too sure whats going on with this thing. Put a fair bit of time and money into this thing over the winter. Getting kind of frustrated with it. What do yall think I oughta check?

You sure you don't have any of that syrup in the fuel filters, are the filters clean,on the top of the injector pump you should see the return line attached to an elbow, remove the elbow and see if there is any debris blocking it,refit it,loosen each injector pipe a couple of turns at the injector, hold the stem as you do so,crank the engine over on full throttle keeping an eye on the pipe unions, you are looking for one that may be blowing back,if there is no back pressure and the fuel spurts out evenly tighten the pipes again, its the high pressure pipes I'm talking about not the leak off on top,the poor cranking, are you sure the cables are holding up,that engine should spin over fairly fast, check the cables or better still bypass them, use jumper cables directly from the battery to the starter and see if there is an improvement in the cranking speed,no then if you can get any numbers that may be on the starter to establish it is the right one,is the glow plug working? hope you enjoyed the syrup.

Maple syrup is all done now lol. Got 24.5 gallons of maple syrup. Now I am
tired of pancakes I put new fuel filters on and bled the injectors. I also
removed the elbow on top of the pump and found no blockages but what I did
find was dark fuel. Dark fuel under the elbow on the pump and dark fuel from
the injector closest to the rad at the front of the motor. The fuel is cloudy
like muddy water. How do I "empty" the fuel pump as it were??
