cat 941 hydraulic hose

busted a hose on a cat 941(70H617 serial) today. its on the right side of the machine and its the one that works the bucket dump its about 2-3ft long with square blocks on each end that has 4 bolt holes in them. will i have to buy one at the cat dealer or would a local hydraulic shop have those ends to? ive never seen that kind of end but i have never been around heavy equipment before.

I actually can't remember what i did in my 941B when i blew a hose. Those Cat couplings are really good but there is an O ring in there that you replace

I used to have a 977K , if the hyd hose is the main big line from the tank to the pump , you will have to order one from Cat . You may check with after market dealers such as Yesterdeay's tractor , Reliable aftermarket parts , there are others .

The hose ends are called 'flange faced' fittings, and any good hydraulic supply place should have them, or can order them. As another post suggested, CAT can sometimes use odd ball ends, usually an odd ball angle, but for the most part the ends are standardized enough for them to be replaced by the ends used on other hose brands.

The easiest way to take them off us to completely remove the corner bolt on one of the clamp halves and just loosen the other three bolts. This gives you a ledge to put the end of the new hose under to locate it. This is really beneficial when the hose is coming in at a bad angle, etc, etc.

One more thing. Just be sure that they give you new seals for the ends. Most now are going to be an O-ring, but they do make the ends that take a ring with a square cross section, and fit in the same place.

cat wanted $118 for the hose thought i could get it cheaper at the local auto store but they wanted around 200 for it so cat it is.

Hi Steven,is that the machine that was on Craig list that you bought,it is surprising Cat is cheaper for the hose, does that hose come with amour.I seem to remember it on them, good luck with your new Cat.

Doesn't surprise me a bit. I've tried a JCB dealer for hoses for my Cats. They were not cheaper, back to Cat.

Some of the old CAT fittings are reusable, and that may be the case with yours. If so they will push the fitting apart, and just use the old fittings with a new hose. Given the cost of some of those fittings, this can cut down the cost considerably.
