ATC brand

Bill In the back of my mine I am thinking the atc was American Tractor company, short lived. Wish it was closer .

IIRC there was a bloke posting on Red Power on rebuilding one of those.

He made his own replacement track rollers as part of the job.

ATC was founded by a WWII refugee that came to this country and founded ATC - then merged ATC with Case and became President of Case.

Through stock manipulation, he made a huge amount of money and fled the country when Case went into bankruptcy.

The WW2 Army tractor, CLARK CA-1 Airborn (and no they were never parachuted, they were delivered by glider or stuffed into C-47 or C-46 aircraft) were surplus after the war. The short lived Federal Company bought up the stocks of unbuilt tractors and produced them for a short time as the USTRC crawler. After that Mark Rojtman the American Tractor Company and produced organised them as the TERRATRAC tractor. He sold ATC and Terratrac to J I Case and they became the basis of the Case crawler line. I don't know if Mark Rojtman fled the country but I understand he went to Mexico. For several years, Case crawlers still had ATC castings. I remember pointing this out to a Case factory man who brought one of the first Case diesel crawlers to my Uncle's farm to demonstrate it. He wasn't too happy with me a 13 year old wise a** kid. Unk didn't buy it, kept his D-2 Cat. Some years later he picked up a used Terratrac for light jobs. My Pop had a Terratrac M-3, crawler forklift for about 4 years.

Bill,

It is a terratrac and one of the later
models . Early ones did not have the spoked
sprokets , they had ones that looked like a
lace curtain.

model and ser# is stamped in the top of the
frame rail by the starter, dig as it will be
full of paint.
