problem with injection pump conversion

Hello all. Has anyone done a fuel injection pump conversion on a john deere 202 engine? If so how did you overcome the throttle lever hiiting the engine, where the block gets wider under the exhaust manifold?
The only way i see is to tilt the pump away from the block and this messes up the timing. If this is the only way how do you line up the timing marks on the pump? Flywheel is TDC postion.
The pump i removed is a cbc 431AL and i am installing a JDB 431 2731. on a jd 450 crawler
As it is now the pump will not sit vertical with the throttle lever as is.
If anyone has seen this problem before or done a IP conversion on this engine please give me your comment.
All info and suggestions are welcome and appreciated.
Thank You
MC

Thanks to all who read this post , but i believe i
have found the problem.
This pump is set up to be installed horizontal
with the timing window on top and the throttle
underneath!
who"d da thunk it !

That makes no sense to me. Here's what the conversion pump looks like on my Deere 300. Same engine as a 350 crawler. 450 engine should look basically the same except it has one extra cylinder.

thanks john I see where the throttle lever on the pic sticks up past the engine block.
Mine wont and you have to turn the pump on a angle and throw out the timing.

Thanks vet, I had no idea that the throttle could be switched to the outside!
Any details or things I need to know? If it can that will likely solve my problem. I have never seen a pic with the throttle lever on the outside of that pump.

Thanks
Mc

Thanks tractor vet !

I did not realize that the throttle lever could be switched sides! Is this difficult? Anything I need to know about doing this?
Any info is appreciated!
Thank you
Mc

Reversing the throttle shaft may allow you to install the pump but it's not going to address whatever the real problem is. That pump should fit with the throttle shaft as it is, just like in the photo I posted. That being said - if you WANT to do it, it means you take the top cover off the pump via the three little 10/24 bolts. Then pry off the C-clip that holds the two halves of the throttle-shaft assembly together. Then slide the two halves out and reverse assembly. Do NOT drop that clip inside the pump !

Thanks john. Well that will let me rotate the pump. Back up straight instead of being tilted over 15 deg
To keep the throttle lever from hitting the block.
