I have an HD-11E serial number 5175...it does not have the original engine, but the engine i believe is a 10000.. it has a generator, a voltage regulator, and the starter has a solenoid attached to the top. the only wiring diagram i can find shows the negative post of the battery hooked to the solenoid, and the positive going to ground. with the "B" post of the regulator going to the amp meter, and then thru the ignition switch.....is it possible this dozer has a positive ground system, and is there any way to test it to make sure.... thanks for your help......bob

All the old tractors were positive ground, the wiring is the same regardless, usually the regulator hot terminal will be marked BAT,if the tractor is 24 volt it is more likely to be negative ground, the generator, regulator or starter are not polarity sensitive, you can polarize the generator to charge either way by momentarily crossing the Bat and Arm terminals on the regulator with a jumper wire.like striking a match, the ammeter is polarity sensitive, should it read the wrong way change the wires on the back of it.
