Cletrac BGSH found in woods

Found a cletrac BGSH dozer in the woods on our logging job. Landowner said he drove it up in the woods 10-15 yrs ago and track fell off and he just left it there. Told us we could have it for $500 if we got it out of there. SN says its a 1944. She's in rough shape but motor is loose. Stuck in gear tho. Can anyone tell us anything about it ? Or maybe how to get it out of gear?

The engine is a JXD Hercules gas engine. The S stands for Studebaker or so it is believed. Studebaker made this engine for their 6X6 built during the war and it is thought that Cletrac bought these engines from Studebaker as Hercules was too busy making other engines for the war.
To get it out of gear push the clutch peddle to the floor and shift. There is a transmission lock that is released by the clutch peddle.

BGSH the SH= Side Hill which means it is a wider gauge then just BG can not remember the gauge differance but i can look it up

Oliver Heritage magazine has a whole mess of articles on the Cletracs. Might be one with all the info in the mix someplace. I'd be grabbing it if it was me. Zimmermanns can supply about anything for those old girls.
