Tractor made to pull a dirt scraper

Have this older mid 1960's tractor called a MRS.
It has a Detroit 4-71 and a Spicer 5 speed transmission with an auxiliary 2 speed transfer case behind the tranny.
There is a-- bump-noise--coming from the transmission in the forward gears. It seems to run perfectly in reverse.
Tractor is 4x4 and 4 wheel steer. Tractor is in rear wheel drive at the present time. Lever to put into 4x4 is frozen.
Thanks for any ideas and help.

You have a bearing going down and the quicker you find it the cheaper the fix. Keep running it and you will get some gears.

Just got the tractor and have just drove it ahead a few feet and back. A fella was here today and he was walking beside the tractor and he thinks the noise bump is coming from the transfer case and not the transmission--his thoughts. Also can't get the 4 wheel drive lever to engage into the transfer case. Just some new info. thanks for your thoughts jm.........

That is probably an A80,is it the 4x4 linkage that's frozen or is it inside in the transfer box, could be a bearing has collapsed, and the gears wont mesh, there is a lot of UJ's on that machine check every one of them and the pinions that go into the axles,it would only take one bad UJ to cause a clunk.

AJ I can't tell you how excited I am to hear from you. This tractor is the I-80 thinking it is the Industrial model compared to the A-80 which might be the agriculture model. Just a guess as what the I AND A mean.
I have some pics to post of the transfer case.
Near the bottom of the transfer case and in the front is a maybe 3/4 dia rod that moves in and out. It needs to move into the transfer case to put the tractor into 4x4 and it will not push in.
The noise-bump is coming when driving FORWARD in 2 wheel drive and NO noise-bump in reverse.
I hope we can make contact. I am in Michigan

Thought I might know who made it by the picture but as near as I can guess it might be Rockwell, see if there is a tag on it and copy any info and post it.
