jd 300 backhoe

What years were JD 300 backhoes made? Were they good machines and did they have any weak points? There is one going to sell at a local farm auction. My brother is interested in it. TIA

Deere never made a "300" backhoe. A 300B, yes. So I assume you are talking about a 300 tractor with whatever hoe has been mounted on the back. Usually a Deere model 92, 9250, or a 9250A. The 300 tractor is basically a 1020 ag-tractor painted yellow and sometimes with better hydraulics. If it has a backhoe on it - make sure it has the big 2.4 cubic inch USA pump and not the little German pump.
