MY 40 loader froze in its tracks -30 C temps

I started the MF 470 loader (Perkins diesel) this morning to move some snow for the log truck en route with firewood and plowed about half the lot and than she just died. I figure fuel froze. Any idea how to get it flowing again??

Add Power Service "9-1-1" or something like that to the fuel tank, also replace the fuel filter as it is probably full of ice/gel. I did these things to get my Deere going when it did the same thing. After you get it going, put in some fuel additive like Power Service or Howe's, also make sure the fuel you get is not straight no2. Up here (Canadian border of NY State) in the winter we get 50-50 kerosene-No. 2 blend for Diesel.

After I read your reply I went to the shop and when I fueled up I had mistakenly/absent mindedly put fuel in that was remnant from the summer. So no wonder it gelled up on me! Such a dumb mistake. It warmed up some to -15C today so I am going to get some no.2 fuel, methyl hydrate (fuel conditioner) and some of that 911 type stuff.

Such a dumb mistake creates so much extra hassle!! lol Thanks for the advice! :)

sounds crazy but I have put charcoal in a metal oil pan, light, place under the machine then cover with a heavy trap to unfreeze. or a heater with generator..

We'll let you away with it this time but next time you will have to stay in after class,on the Perkins engine underneath the top cover of the priming pump there is a gauze filter that is very fine and blocks easily, that filter is often overlooked,I usually clean them and pump body when servicing the fuel system.

I ended up draining the fuel in the tank (wasn't much more than half gallon) and draining the fuel out of the line and water separator and filters. Poured about a capful of Howes Anti Gel into the filter and separater cups. Mixed some more into some fresh winter fuel filled the tank up with that. Let the fuel run to the separator and filters. I than removed the fuel line to all the injectors and cranked the motor until fuel was flowing good out at the injectors. HOoked everything back up and hit it again. Bless my idiot heart she fired up. Ran rough for maybe 10 seconds, smoothed out and than fine all day.

GD pain in the a$$! Hands were numb most of the morning yesterday lol serves me right I guess haha

Thanks for all the advice lads!
