Wagner Tractor Loader.

I just purchased a IHC 340 utility tractor that has a Wagner C-110 loader. This unit uses the hydraulic pump on the tractor, not an add on pump that some other small tractors use. It also has a Wagner valve bank to operate the loader. I was asking questions about this loader setup on the Farmall/IHC forum page, but didn't get much help with the loader part of the unit. Now for my questions. Everything I have operated with a loader on it the right had hydraulic lever always controlled the lift cylinders, and the left hand lever controlled the bucket cylinders. On this setup the opposite is true. Is this normal? The other thing with this unit is that there is no float setting for the lift cylinders. I changed the hoses around on the valve bank to, what I thought, was normal operation and there still isn't a float setting. Is this the way these loaders are designed to operate, or is there something wrong with this setup?

I don't believe there is float on these, meaning the valve body that Wagner produced, which you should be able to tell that is a Wagner when you look at the top of the casting, even the plumbing fittings on Wagner loaders were marked with their name, so they must have had their own foundry or whatever. I believe that is the same orientation as my wagner, left side is loader arm lift cylinders, right is the bucket. This one has factory double acting cylinders, and I believe the factory valve is what you call an open center type if I understand it correctly, and I am no hydraulics genius either LOL !

Wagner is still in business, "Wagner Companies" while they ceased manufacture of tractor loaders, they have a couple of pages about the history, loaders and have some manuals posted, so click on the below link, then click on the links below what I believe is an old farmall tractor in a black and white photo, this should be helpful information.

Over the years a fair amount of questions are asked about these old loaders and its unclear if how many knew about their web site. Anytime you have a company name or information, it pays to do a search on the net, that's how I found this page and have posted same whenever I see a question about their loaders. Check Ebay, there is a bunch of listings for their old products, click below.

Thanks for the information. I had found a download of the manual, but it was hard to read. I'll have to learn to live with the valve as it is,or replace it in the future.

I would imagine you would get used to it, as I used to run a caterpillar 977L crawler loader and a 980 wheel loader for the same company and the loader controls were 2 spool, but the levers were opposite in each machine, for the lift arms and bucket, so when you went from one to the other, you had to be able to do both, it did not take long to be able to do both.

I would assume you could get a 2/(2 lever) spool open center valve body with float, I did find one in a joystick, (click below) not sure what the threads are on the wagner valve, size, and or the hydraulic specifications of your tractor, probably less flow and or pressure than a front mounted pump, but it would seem possible to easily retrofit yours. Currently my old wagner valve, the ends of the spools where the levers were pinned and controlled with No 60 roller chain, literally wore through, so I have stubs and vice grips, difficult repair by welding due to heat, I have considered another valve for ease of repair.

The link below to that site, there is a lot of hydraulic parts like these to look at,

I have already switched the hoses around. Now at least I don't have to stop and think before I pull a lever. It will be safer this way for anyone else who might run this loader. Probably save on a lot of pinched fingers.

A joystick control would be the ticket, but I don't think I can justify the cost. I'm not going to give up on the thought though.
