Need assistance rebuilding hydraulic drive motor . I have a 1974 model LC80 totally Poclain with 1100 2speed drive and swing motors any help would be appreciated . Have a spare unit to start with, already have it on the bench and have the top cover off, and have removed the shaft seal from the output shaft. No luck getting any further. What t do next.

If you just need to reseal the motor do not dismantle it,take off the pinion and seal housing and replace the shaft seal and housing o'ring,to seal the top cover sit the motor so the pinion is at the bottom in a wheel rim or the like, mark the cover to the motor housing, take the cover off leave the distributor behind (that's the middle piece)use the jacking bolts to push the cover up evenly as it houses the top bearing for the rotor, with the cover off replace the center and outer o'rings,do not take the rotor out of the housing,if the rotor is removed from the housing it will fall apart, there are no seals in the rotor to replace, what is the reason you are taking it apart for.

The reason I am disassembling it is this one came on the machine years ago but did not drive at all. I purchased a replacement, rebuilt from Rapid Machinery and kept this one in the barn. The swing motor is the same motor and leaks out the top cover at the rotor seal, so I felt I should learn from this old unit before attempting to do the swing motor. Thank You so much for the reply as I know nothing at all about these units and any info is welcomed.

Is there any seals on the individual pistons on these motors to replace? What would be involved with a rebuild? For my immediate needs simple seal replacements on my working units would appear to solve my needs.

There are no seals on the pistons or in the rotor,if the top cover is leaking the easiest thing to do is replace the center and outer o'ring under the cover with the motor in situ, are you sure all the filters are clean, those motors have a warming through circuit at low pressure,if the filters are restricted it can cause the motor cover to leak.

I will clean them again during the next warm brake in the weather to be sure. But I am confident that this machine was badly neglected for years before my purchasing it. So I assume this motor that came on the machine and wouldn't move is just worn out then. Thank You again for your knowledge, these filters have all been serviced twice since I have owned this machine.
