Good hot paint for exhaust manifold.

I bought some good high temp paint back when I restored my TD9. It was black paint, and came in a quart can, after sandblasting the manifold you brush painted it on. It was really durable and lasted for years, but it has finally started wearing out, and rust is popping through. I have long since lost the paint and don't remember what brand it was. Does anyone know of a good high temp paint that I can purchase that will last, and not burn off, that is suitable for the exhaust manifold of my TD9, or any of my other tractors. Any comments appreceiated. Eddie Olive

There are plenty of manifold paints out there in any auto parts store (NAPA, etc.) Not sure which one is the best so I decided to have a manifold on one of my tractors powder coated. A bit expensive but so far, it is like the Energizer Bunny!

I've always had good luck with the high temp 'barbeque black'. I've got two wood stoves that were painted with it and were then used for 6 years of so, and have now been outside for several years, and they still look pretty good.

I appreceiate all the good information on the hot paints, im going to sand blast, and paint over the exhaust manifold for my TD9 shortly. Recently I removed the muffler off my TD9, and discovered the top of the extention on the exhaust manifold, the part that the muffler ataches to was chipped and some small chunks were broken off. The extention is made of cast iron, and the chunks had nowhere to go but up, out of the muffler, or down into the manifold. The last thing I want is to have those chunks of cast iron end up in the motor. I have several spare exhaust manifolds around, and one has a steel extention, should be alot less likely to chip or break than cast iron. Once again, I apperceiate all the great input from everyone. and I wish each and everyone a very Merry Christmas. Thanks Eddie Olive

Years ago I had good luck with VHT coatings.
Is it the same nowadays? Summit racing sells it for one. I remember curing it in the oven , some say you don't need to but 40 years later mine is still presentable so it did not seem to hurt anything.
