Caterpillar D9G serial number

Bought an old D9G to do some tiling with, but can not find the serial number. Any help would be great. Thankj

in general they are to the mid/upper left of the drawbar on the rear--or toward the rear left side of the engine

I'm working on one right no, and dpendzic is right. The number should be stamped on the rear of the machine, up and left of the drawbar. The actual tag is supposed to be on the dash panel, low and on the right hand side.

I always tell a guy to walk up like he was going to we we into the draw bar hole. Then left arm and it should be about even with your waist there as the others have said on/in the rear housing. Look for a 2 inch by 3 inch tag. If you see NO tag look for two rivet holes or heads and scrape the frame. It will be stamped there under where the tag was. Let us know if you do not find it.
