What rollers hold up?

Guys,
Were working a Cat D5B-A in mud with swamp pads in rice country in Cambodia. It runs in a lot of mud and water. The S.A.L.T chains have been a Godsend, but we're having trouble with rollers holding up. What's your suggestion? We can get Korean made rollers with greasable bearings for about $120 less than oil filled from Japan. Which ones would be better?

Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas!

It depends upon what kind of seal is used on the oil roller. Is it just a double lip then I would go with grease one, but if it is a metal on metal seal or what Cat calls a dou-cone seal I would go with that. I found that they work good in the cranberry marshes which is water and sand. Anything but this type of seal does not hold up. The seal uses torsion from a rubber on each side to hold it tight and water proof.

Hey Camboted good to hear from you.. I think I would try the ones where you grease. At least you can force that mud and water out. May have to grease it twice a day but might be better.

Not many rice fields here in the UK but there are plenty of swamps and swamp dozers, the rollers used are the standard duo cone seal type from either Cat or Burco, what rollers have you been using, and what's happening to them, back in the days of bellow seals the machine was not parked with the tracks submerged as there was more of a chance of the rollers leaking in when they were still than when they were moving.
