Bought a couple of cat D-2 toy crawlers, one has seat in normal spot and the other one has the seat hanging off the back, are these just different series or years??

The one with the seat hanging off the back is an orchard model.

if you give the serial #'s i can give you the models and the year--located on rear to the mid left of draw bar and also on the left side of engine behind/above pony clutch controls---they should match if original engine.
