Drott excavator

Drott is going to be back in the 70s so it is aged. I bought a new 35 and then latter a 40 both were rather simple machines compared to todays machines. Weak spot is splines where the drive sprocket goes on the final. Learned how to change those over the years. Could have Detroit, case or cummins power. They had a feature ahead of its time. You can tilt the house, was nice but never caught on with the other manufactures.

Well Bruce you spelled the name right. Not sure which model a 19 ton is though. They built crawler machines and excavators on rubber. They were built in Wausau, Wisconsin. They were later joined up with Poclain and became part of Case CE Division. The Drotts, not Poclain, were low pressure hydraulic machines and the ones I was around had Detroit engines. Decent machines in their day. Drott also built many attachments for other manufacturers.
If you have any specific questions and could determine the model #, I may be able to help.

Check out the hydraulic system. If the hydraulic pump would fail, some mechanics would just change out the pump without flushing out all of the hydraulic lines, of which there are many. The metal filings in the hydraulic lines would ruin the new pump real fast.

MIght want to insert a magnet to the bottom of the hydraulic tank and see if it comes back out with metal filings on the magnet.

Very expensive if you have to rebuild the hydraulic system.

Hi
if it's one of those 360 type machines on wheels, leave it where it is for farm use. My Buddy got one he wants to sell. He might give it to you around Christmas if the time wasters don't stop calling him L.O.L.

He said in mud or the feed lot it's useless, is an ignorant pig to get out if it's stuck. He said keep it on very hard ground .
He drives a proper hoe somedays. he said the hand and foot controls for the boom/ bucket are real confusing to on his, and take a while to get used to. He was fed up with his before he got used to listening to that screaming motor as well, kinda thinking he might have a Detroit in his!.
Regards Robert
