poclain 125b excavator,pros and cons

My nephew needs an excavator for his scrapyard. Found a 125b Poclain that the owner retired. It works, leaks a little, runs good. What problems do these machines have? The Duetz doesn't scare us and Case says they can get most parts, used parts are available. Please tell me your experiences.

The ones I worked on were plumbed with a Synflex type hose, that deteriorated badly in the sunlight and heat. And they were an odd size , prolly metric . The fittings are likely more available now as metric becomes more common .

Does that machine have high pressure hydraulics? If it does, forget that machine. High pressure systems are prone to leaks and other problems.

There were lots of Poclain equipment in my neck of the woods,Poclain was a big player in the excavator business till Case snubbed it out,it was the first with about everything, grabs, grapples, magnets and shears etc,the Poclain was the machine of choice in the scrap handling business, the hydraulic system is low flow high pressure system, they were prone to have a few leaks, the 125 was a lovely machine, when Case got involved that was a death sentence to Poclain, people just did not want anything with a Case badge and Hitachi got in the opening and won the contractors over and are now they are the top sellers,I have worked on Poclain equipment from it's start till Case killed it off and never heard of the sunlight damaging hoses but what I can say of hoses at that time now nearly 30 years ago a made-up hose would burst first pull of the lever and the reason was simple a hose designed for a 2500 psi system should not be fitted to something that has twice the pressure, nowerdays nearly all modern excavators pressure have increased to that range since they copied Poclain and used piston pumps instead of gear pumps like they used to.
