First, find your caps lock key and turn it off.

I would guess (but I could be wrong, it's a guess) that a temp gauge won't draw too much current. If true, a simple 3-terminal voltage regulator in a TO220 package will probably do the job:

Either a 7812 and two capacitors or a 317, two resistors and two capacitors. Depending on actual current needed you may also need a heat sink to bolt the thing to so it does not overheat.

Or you can likely buy the thing in a box (which will likely have something like the above, or a fancier switching converter) for more money if you prefer. Generically, a DC-DC converter (you want a buck [lower voltage] converter, 24VDC in, 12VDC out)
 
I'm not sure who makes them for Carquest, but take a look at the link below, on page M16, for a resistor that allows you to use 12V gauges on 24 volt systems. I got some years ago, I think through Steward Warner, that looked identical and did the same thing these do. I know of at least one machine that's still in use with them in it after nearly 10 years.

If I remember correctly the 1450 had a manual gauge for the torque oil temperature as OME,if you intend changing over to electric you will need a sender unit to put in the torque as well as the gauge,any truck parts outlet should be able to supply a 24V set,what have you got at the moment,any truck salvage yards near you.
