john deere 690 engine

I have a john Deere 690 excavator which is pretty old. It did operate but oil pump was out and spun the mains.Dont have a lot in it but debating wheather to cut up for scrap or try to find engine for it.Does anyone know what engine may bolt up in there so I could try to see what money Im looking at.Really hate to spend a lot more time on it but only about 1,500 put in it.Appreciate any advice.Rather have rubber tire hoe but was hoping to tear down house and work on a pond. Thanks.

if you decide to pass on replacing or rebuilding the engine, why not offer it up at scrap price? I for one would be interested in a 690 with a bad motor. almost all my stuff started out as someone elses junk haha. If you are going to pass on it send me an email!

Those were decent machines pity to scrap it, couple of 404's on diesel engine trader.
