AS JM ADVISED, WHEN I GOT ALL MUD REMOVED,
SUSPENSIOPN HAS BEEN WELDED UP SOLID. WAS THIS A
STANDARD FIX? THE REPAIR ON L. SIDE HAS BROKEN
FREE IN 3 PLACES, INCLUDING THE FRONT OUTER
SUSPENSION ARM. ANY MORE REINFORCING I SHOULD
ADD, OR JUST REPAIR THEIR WELDS? JM, ENG DOES RUN
FINE, AS U ADVISED. THANX 2 ALL HELPERS, NIK
NEED DECENT PADS, 36 EA SIDE

Well I be old jm was right.. 70 years experience I guess.. just kidding. But here is the truth and I know right now you will think that man is crazy but trust me. The very best think you can do is find some one and get rid of that money pit. There are tons of cheap dozers out there to spend money and labor on that will return you something for your work. Ever time you fix something on that beast it will just be something else. When they came out brand new they broke a lot of folks that tried to run them. You are right in putting all new suspension in would not be any better than any welding because it is just a flawed design. Car torsion bars on a dozer....

The trouble with machinery is once you have it you are more or less stuck with it.if it no good to you its no good to anyone else cept the scrapper,if you are handy with a welder and can do it yourself weld it,if you think it needs reinforcing reinforce it,a few pieces of plate and a box of rods will hardly break the bank, there never was a need for a suspension on any crawler but they all used them and they all broke one way or the other, track pads can have new grouser bars welded on,that is common practice with up to date dozers,if you could post a picture we'll advise you if it viable or or.
