1450 case...need wisdom

just got old sweetheart...had 2 d-6 afore...serial plate gone, looked above starter 4 eng s/n. only says A504BTD (ENG MODEL) on plate...how can i find year?? has a number on blade, l. side..
next, what is paint color? made 1978-80
third, need set of pads, 36/side, or should i weld bars on? be blessed, grateful, prepared, nik age d72, viet vet, flyin since 61

Nik Save yourself a bunch of grief, before you go to spending a bunch of money in a money pit. That thing was made before case had any experience in larger dozers, they broke a lot of folks. Look at the suspension right under the middle of the tractor. Would be the equalizer bar on one of your d6. All that area gave trouble . The got where the nose would get low. About the only good thing about that dozer is the engine.

Nik,

If that 1450 is as tough as the pair of

1000 case crawlers that I have , it will be

around when many of the big name ones have

gone to china. My 1000 loader has been here

since 67 and the 1000 dozer since 71 and

still working.

Have a 1450 in the back lot that needs orings

or liners, did the engine in a 1450 B three

years ago , have over hauled many 1150's ,if

one of my customers buys the 1150 that he is

looking at , will have another one to do.

Get 1 inch grouser bar and weld it on.
