'85 Liebherr Excavator Pump Rebuild parts????

After several attempts I am quite sure the pump
in my Liebherr 932 excavator is dying. While I
am walking if I move the controls the motor
bogs out. So I removed the hydraulic filter and
cleaned it, let it dry and returned it. SLIGHT
improvement for the first 20 minutes of
operation than back to the same old boggy
performance. I wanted to replace the $400.00
filter but no one in Ontario, Canada has one
apparently.

It"s a good shovel for it"s size and she"ll
move a lot of material but it"s so slow and
boggy now it"s starting to have a hard time
even walking. After about half hour or so I
lose my right track completely (the right track
was always slower than the left right from when
i bought the shovel from the used equipment
lot) so I figure the pump must be dying. When
I cleaned the filter I noticed some small metal
particulate on the filter as well. That can"t
be good.

Anyone know where i can source a rebuild
kit/pump for this shovel for a decent price? I
would like to get the pump working proper so i
can sell this big machine (my project is now
done) and buy myself a small 7 ton excavator
for my contracting business.

Your best bet on a pump like that is to let someone that knows that kind of pump rebuild it for you. Between some of the larger pieces that need to be lapped in, and actually being able to put it on a test stand and set the flow and pressure under a load...before it's back on the machine and you find a problem and have to pull it again... a repair shop is the way to go.

I've been using a place in Pacolet, SC for about 12 years and they have always done me a good job, and at a reasonable price. One thing about them is that there are items that they can repair themselves(like shafts with a seal groove cut in them) -vs- replacing with new, when they can. This allows them to still stand behind their work, and also save you money on the rebuild, by reusing the part instead of having to pay for a new one.

I know there is, or used to be a place up in Canada that did rebuilds too. My problem with them is that they burned me/my customer on a pump about the time I found SHP, to the tune of over $6000, when they didn't stand behind their warranty when the pump they just rebuilt failed due to their negligence/defective parts. Instead they tried to blame the problem on the oil (had it independently tested for contamination, etc, and it was good), tried to say the suction line collapsed (it was like 4" OD and maybe 4" long, and had wire in it, so there was no way it could collapse). Basically they made every excuse under the sun and stuck us footing the bill for yet another rebuild to fix their screwup. I've cost them way more in lost revenue by bad publicity over the years, than what it would have cost them to have just made things right.

Regardless, give SHP a shout and even if you want to do it yourself, they might be able to come up with the parts for you. Good luck.

Those pumps are unique to Liebherr and before you sell a kidney and a lung establish if you need it,not much point in changing the pump if its going to be the same way afterwards, get a Liebherr serviceman to check the pressures, it maybe only an o-ring that needs replacing.
Good luck
