Ford 4500 industrial engine removal

Hey guys.

I have a Ford 4500 TLB with a 3 cylinder diesel
4 speed with a torque converter.

I have removed the hard nose and am ready to
remove the engine.

My question is will the engine slide right out
or is there a flex plate to be unbolted?

Thanks,

Brad

The engine slides straight out, keep it level and in line till the torque sleeve is clear of the transmission input shaft, always replace the oil seal in the front of the oil pump, putting it back again make sure its in line so not to damage the torque sleeve.
Good luck

Hey AJ.

Thanks for the info, I really appreciate it.

Do you happen to know if the converter or other
components should be tested? I bought this
machine as a non-runner.

Thanks again,

Brad

Those tests are usually done when the tractor is intact, there are pressure checks that need doing to find any leaks in the internal system, the torque cake is of the welded type which means that it's got to go to a specialist builder, the system depends on oil pressure to charge the torque and engage the clutches when they are selected, the system need to be full and have clean filters,if for example there is no forward drive but a strong reverse that means the torque, reverse clutch and the charge pump is ok and the fault lies in the forward clutch,it could be a leak, worn discs of the pressure spring,if there is no drive in either direction, check the clutch cutout is not stuck in the disengage position, it is unlikely that both clutches would fail at once so its now down to the torque or charge pump, the pressure test is now needed,if the pressure was within limits the torque has an issue, and that is usually its stripped its internal spline, there are other things that can cause no drive, stripped ring gear, broken shaft, diff.
