have an old prime l1200 skid steer. one of the drive motors, ross trw mae24029 is leaking and i need to get it rebuilt. cannot figure how to get the drive sprocket off. the manual says to remove the nut on the end of the shaft, but there is a square drive cover over the end of the shaft. there is a circlip that i removed off the splines, but it doesnt seem to do anything. if you look inside the square hole you can see the end of the tapered shaft out of the drive motor. here is a couple pics.

putting a rachet in the square hole just turns the drive motor.

It would be my guess that the nut is what you are looking at with the 1/2" square drive in it,hold the sprocket and see if you can undo it,something must be holding the sprocket on.
