IH 500 transmission oil

Our club has a 500 tractor with the "10 Bullgrader". It has the gas engine and powershift reverser.
I have dug it out of the shed and want to service it.
The transmission is full of what looks like ATF transmission fluid. I thought it should have something more like the hydraulic oil in a tractor.
I do know that after a couple hours working the hydraulics slow way down and the power shift almost stops working. could this be the thin oil in the tranny?

I had a 500C and it had two oil filters for the tranny--spin on type on left side of transmission
I bought tranny oil from the Komatsu dealer who had the specifies type which i don't remember.

Thanks. I bought a parts and service manual and it says to use IH Hy-Tran, which seems to be obsolete.
Another club member says it should take regular ATf which I'm sure can't be right for a machine that old.

Nearly all makes of TC machines of that era took ATF,that spec has now changed to HyTrans, any generic HyTrans fluid will do fine,it is actually better than ATF for tractor transmissions and can be used in the hydraulics as well.
