1952 TD 6 IH dozer, crawler Rear main oil seal leaks, how do

Have a TD 6 The rear main oil seal leaks; like a stream.
I have learned that the best way is to pull the engine -don't agree. Another way to take top plate off, move clutch/fly wheel back and remove seal; also remove spring to remove oil pan.
Which is the best way and how? I again don't think pulling the engine could be the best way.

The drawing is from an old parts book for a TD6,trouble is I don't know what TD6 it came with, could be later than 52, it shows the seal layout,I put the part numbers that are listed of the two pieces of felt and the gaskets,if you can't find them locally try the link below.
