If your stering cluchs and brakes are dry model yes you can reinstall new brake without removing the stering cluch

My clutches and brakes are dry. Thank you for the information. Is it necessary to remove the tank? When I redid the clutches quite a few years ago I did remove the tank.

gemdozer,
Thanks again for the information. I have forks on the bucket of my tractor. It fits nicely under the tank which makes it easy to remove and reinstall the tank. Yes, the band tightening bolt underneath. I will definitely remove it. Chris
You obviously have knowledge about the HD6. Do you have one?

I had one on my land but it was 15 years a go but I dismantled 5 HD6 for parts and am still have some used parts

gemdozer,
I have new brakes and yoke for the left hand brake on my HD6. What holds the pins in place that secure the brakes? There are two holes in the frame which look as if they should line up with the pins. They do not line up. Maintenance book on the crawler I have says the pins are drilled and tapped. insert bolt, I do not know the correct size of the bolt, insert bolts through holes in frame and put into pins and remove the pins. Are the pins a press fit? Is it necessary to loosen the retaining block which both brakes attach in order to line up the pins? Manual I have is the service and maintenance manual for the crawler not a shop manual. I replaced the steering clutches both sides of the machine about 10 - 15 years ago. Right clutch works perfectly, no signs of oil on left hand steering clutch. I think I released the steering clutches pulled them up far enough up and removed the small pin which attaches the two brake bands together. Any information procedures you could suggest to me would be appreciated.
