John Deere 410B

Hello, I have a John Deere 410B that I need some help trying to figure out a problem on.

After about 45 minutes of work the engine will rev up on its own to a high RPM but the minute you put a load on it the engine will die. You can restart it but the engine barely has enough power to drive the tractor much less do any work.

Also, another really weird symptom is when its doing this the key will no longer cut the backhoe off. What you have then is a over running engine that you can't cut off except by stalling it out.

I should mention that during the first 45 minutes or so of operation the backhoe runs wonderfully and flawlessly and the key works to cut the backhoe off.

Thanks!

Sounds like air in the fuel due to a a fuel restriction somewhere on the way up to the injection pump. Fuel fitting in the bottom of the fuel tank? Fuel pump? Inlet screen in the injection pump? A broken dampener inside the injection pump can give similar symptoms except for the shut-off not working. That is usually caused by too much air in the top of the injection pump.
